# Hunting Game: real-life manhunt and hide and seek

Play outside with your friends, on iPhone and Android. Chasers see the runners on a map, and runners get a compass that points at the chasers. Hide and Seek mode comes with Pro.

Free for up to 4 players.

## How a game works

1. **Start a new game.** One person, the host, taps Start a new game and shares the 5-digit join code. Everyone else taps Join game, types the code and taps Ready.
2. **Agree on the area.** Say out loud where you can and can't go. With Pro, the host can also draw it on the map as a play zone.
3. **Runners get a head start.** By default they get 2 minutes to get away. After that, chasers see them on the map every few minutes.
4. **Catch them with a code.** Reach a runner and type the 4-digit code shown on their phone into yours. No grabbing or tackling. Chasers win if they catch everyone before time runs out; otherwise the runners win.

Power-ups add surprises, like Scan, which shows every runner at once. You buy them with coins you earn by playing.

## Three ways to play

### Manhunt (Free)

The classic chase. Chasers see the runners on the map every few minutes, so runners keep moving.

### Family (Free)

Manhunt with a referee, like a parent or a group leader, who follows every player on the map.

### Hide and Seek (Pro)

Runners hide, and chasers search without seeing them on the map. The play zone shrinks, so nobody can hide forever.

People play in parks and neighborhoods, at camps, on school trips, in youth groups and at birthday parties for ages 13 and up. [Tips for big groups](https://www.hunting-game.com/manhunt-for-groups)

## Safety and your location

- **You choose where you play.** So you're responsible for your own safety and for following the law. Keep busy roads, railways, water and private property out of the game.
- **Locations can be wrong or late.** Hunting Game is not a navigation, safety or emergency service, or a way to watch over anyone. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
- **For ages 13 and up.** Under 18? Agree with a parent or guardian where and when you play, and don't play alone or after dark.
- **Shared only while you play.** Your location is shared from when you tap Ready (or make the game) until the game ends, with the players in your game. Anyone with the join code can also follow the game on this website. It shows no positions before the head start ends or in Hide and Seek, and after that each team only as the other team sees it. Share the code only with your players.
- **Deleted after the game.** Positions and routes are deleted about 5 minutes after the game ends, and chat within about 10. No ads in the app, and we don't sell your data.

## Questions

### Is Hunting Game a hunting game?

No. It's a chase game you play outside with friends, like manhunt, tag or hide and seek. There are no animals and no weapons.

### Is Hunting Game free?

Yes, for games of up to 4 players (at least 2). When the host has Pro, up to 100 can join, and they still play free. Pro is a monthly or yearly subscription.

### Can iPhone and Android players play together?

Yes. Everyone joins with the same code. You need iOS 17.0 or later, or Android 7.0 or later. During the game, every phone needs location and an internet connection, usually mobile data. There's also an Apple Watch app (watchOS 10.0 or later).

### How long is a game?

The host picks 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 2 hours. They can also set any length up to 48 hours. A short first game, like 30 minutes, is a good start.

### How often do chasers see the runners?

Every 2 minutes by default. The host can change it to 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, or 5 minutes. They can also set their own. In Hide and Seek mode, chasers don't see the runners at all.

### Who can see my location?

The players in your game, depending on their team. Anyone with the 5-digit join code can also follow the game on this website. It shows no positions before the head start ends, and none in Hide and Seek. After that, it shows each team as the other team sees it: runners where the chasers last saw them, and chasers live when the runners can see them, as they can on the default settings. Your location is only shared from when you tap Ready (or make the game) until the game ends, and during the game also when your phone is locked. Positions are deleted about 5 minutes after the game ends.

### How old do you need to be?

13 or older. If you're under 18, agree with a parent or guardian where and when you play, and don't play alone or after dark.
